The new dishwasher

Tired of the constant arguments over who's turn it was to do the dishes and our plain slackness in actually doing the washing up, we went to the Gold Coast Home Show yesterday with the intention of buying a dishwasher. Which we managed to do....it is all nice and shiny and new and the price was very good. We got it home and it didn't quite fit in the hole we had for it but that was ok as we just had to cut a small piece out of the benchtop and it would all be good. It was getting late so we decided to leave that project for this morning.

Trev's dad came around nice and early to get started, he cut the piece out and they hooked the dishwasher up. Excitedly we filled it with the dishes we had been storing up and started the washing process. All seemed good. Trev's dad left, giving us advice to keep an eye on it and see if it leaked anywhere. After 11mins water was pouring out of the bottom of the machine, not good. The flood alarm had also been activated and we had water everywhere. The manual advised we call the helpline, which we did and booked a repair person to come out on Monday afternoon. The helpdesk lady suggested we get as much water out of it as possible. So we started to siphon it all out, and we managed to get enough out that the flood alarm stopped and we were able to start it again. All was looking good again, but then 8 mins in it flood again. This time Trev decided to see if there was anything blocking the s-bend in the sink. To our surprise he found that the little nozzle we had attached the draining tube to, wasn't actually open. So Trev drilled this out and we tried again. This time success!! and just at this point Trev's mum and dad came back over to see how it was going. Trev's dad felt like a bit of a goose when we told him what had happened. And then when we called back to cancel our service call, the lady who answered said that we were not the first person to fall for that little trap!

and in true michelle style, I did my part to bring humor to the situation. When Trev took the s-bend out to see what was going on inside it, he passed it up to me to drain the water out of it, i automatically poured it down the sink ..... and straight in to his face ;)
